Legacy Games

(This review is purely for BUYING merchandise from this business and not selling or returning anything) Probably the best vintage/retro games store in the south suburbs (they also sell cards but I know nothing about that type of thing so I won't be mentioning it) Prices are pretty much right around to slightly above eBay prices on the important items (consoles and popular games) but nearly all cartridges and consoles were in B-A grade condition so that usually makes up for it. Controllers and games not super sought after are priced well but condition varies so be sure to test them well. The amount of merchandise in stock was pretty impressive for every console generation, especially the Wii and PS1/PS2. The employees aren't too sociable but that's to be expected at literally every game and card store so not a huge issue. If you live nearby I'd definitely recommend checking it out every now and again but don't expect any crazy deals, at least until this pandemic fueled collector craze dies down. Overall, a very nice little retro store.

Pretty cool store with a decent selection at an okay price. The staff however were the worst. I felt like a ghost in there, I was never acknowledged and when I asked for help I felt like the biggest burden ever. It took him minutes to finally get the game I requested and the dude was so rude and snarky I was kind of in disbelief. I love supporting retro game shops and have been to ones all over the country. This was the worst service I've received. Hopefully ya'll have a better experience

Update : Well my boyfriend went back to return a game we bought and played but it wasn’t working properly. The guy at the counter was different from last time and wouldn’t let us return the game because he couldn’t figure out how to play it, which meant he didn’t get to the part me and my bf did that it started to glitch. Gave my bf attitude and acted as if my bf was trying to trick him into taking it back. Game was literally only $10. And we had also bought a $80 game that worked fine. You’d think if we wanted to scam them we would bring back the more expensive game. Very disappointing since we had such a good experience the first time coming. Won’t be going again. Can’t imagine buying a game that doesn’t work then having the staff attack you for it. Lucky it was only a $10 game. Again super upsetting since the first going was definitely a five star trip. I see a few more reviews mentioning a rude staff person. Seems like they don’t bother to fix his attitude as it’s most likely the same guy each time. Also wanna add that we live an hour and 30 mins away from the store. So the fact that we went back to return the game and buy more stuff just to be treated like that irks my soul. Edit reply: YOU PLAYED NOT EVEN HALF OF THE FRIST LEVEL! That’s the issue here. So you are basically lying on the reply. The guy playing couldn’t figure out how to kill the snails, got frustrated and then attacked us by saying our game cube was the problem when this Shrek game was the only game we have had fail on us. To come on here to claim you guys played the levels when you clearly didn’t is gross. You guys suck. Update : He couldn’t make it past the first gate. I stand by my review. You did not play the game fully or complete any levels. I will stand by that and let all of our friends know 🤗 as we had witness in the store of it. Maybe next time play the actually game right in order to see if it’s working properly.

I've always had a positive experience when I come into Legacy Games and are a favorite local shop to go to. Even just to come in and enjoy the classic game titles on various consoles (Atari to Nintendo to Playstation to present), it has been a great atmosphere. The knowledgeable owners and staff have been welcoming and helpful, especially with the D&D packs/items. You can really tell the passion and excitement they have with their products while enjoying being there for the customer. This isn't your bland Gamestop, its a store for someone who cares about you enjoying what you buy because they do too. Thank you!
